Greetings -
If you have ever had a conversation with a patient and finished without feeling like you really connected, have you ever considered that it may have been because you never talked about anything the patient wanted? You may have talked about dentistry because that is what you do. But patients don’t want dentistry. In fact, they really want very little, if anything, of what you do. Make sure to read this week’s ToPS Blog at www.TotalPatientService.BlogSpot.com for a quick reminder that will keep you focused on what patients really WANT and how you can improve your results by changing the focus of your patient conversations.
Have a great week as you continue toward the ToP by concluding your daily morning huddle with the action thought for the day below.
Morning Huddle Action Thoughts
April 13 Thought: He is happy whose circumstances suit his temper, but he is more excellent who can suit his temper to any circumstances. David Hume
Action: Resolve today to adjust your temper to make those of other temperaments totally at home in your presence.
April 14 Thought: Even when a bird walks we see that he has wings. Lemoine
Action: Find pleasure today in looking beyond the actions of each patient to an appreciation of his/her total abilities, potential, and worth as a person.
April 15: Thought: A 10% improvement may yield a 100% return. Steve Anderson
Action: A good percentage thought for income tax deadline day: Consider an operational procedure that needs improvement. Write down everything you know about the procedure and the problem. Reassemble all of the parts like a puzzle and add your creativity. See if your 10% investment in this exercise will provide the traditional 100% improvement.
April 16 Thought: One “keep clean” is better than ten “make cleans.” Edmund Fuller
Action: Check every treatment room and every office area. See if there is a place that needs to be assigned to someone to keep clean before it is seen to need cleaning.
April 17 Thought: When you are through changing, you’re through. Paul H. Dunn
Action: Ask those who perform each function and those who just observe it to think of ways to improve traditional thinking and ways of doing things. Those who perform a task can pass judgment on how practical a change might be. Those who are just observers may have valuable ideas because they are not inhibited by traditional thinking. Get the input from both and it will help you find ways to make changes for the better.
