Greetings -
Some dental message board posts this week commented about consultants, some consultants not being dentists, and consultants not being able to do what they teach. I have made available my response in this week’s blog at www.TotalPatientService.BlogSpot.com
It has some valuable insights as you consider the direction of your practice in the upcoming year and the sources from which you draw to get that direction. Have a great week as you wrap up 2009 and look forward to the new decade ahead!
Morning Huddle Action Thoughts
December 28
Thought: What makes work enjoyable (especially after a holiday) is the opportunity to contribute something of value to the lives of others.
Action: Create an ABCD Award Board (Above and Beyond the Call to Duty). Each day, recognize at least one person on the team who made a difference in the life of another team member or a patient.
December 29
Thought: Hesitation comes mainly from procrastination or risk avoidance. Michael M. Lombardo
Action: Don’t take a lot of time figuring out which of the two is the cause. Just start and do 10% of each task immediately if it is one of those procrastinated jobs that has no immediate deadline. You will then be started and will have a better idea of how long it will take to complete the remainder of the task.
December 30
Thought: Approachable people get more information, know things earlier, and people just like to have them around. Robert W. Eichinger
Action: Decide how you can be more approachable and therefore more likeable. Here are some starters: (1) Question more and listen more intently. (2)Share more information and get more in return. (3) Remember more about patients and dental team members–about their children, their interests, other things you can chat about. (4) Be approachable–smile, keep eye contact.
December 31
Thought: Saving from falling is better than helping up.
Action: Take initiative today to think ahead, look out for each other and anticipate needs. It will keep everyone on track, on time, and in step with each other.
